I imagine one of the reasons people
cling to their hates so stubbornly is
because they sense, once hate is gone,
they will be forced to deal with the pain.”

Fatherless boys grow up feeling unprotected. Their tendency to join gangs (of other fatherless boys) is an unconscious attempt to find another father figure for guidance and direction on the path to manhood.

At the Chiron Centre (Liverpool), we explore ways to work with anger in a safe environment. The tools we use are basic listening skills (unconditional regard, congruence and empathy), counselling, mindfulness, attention to our lifestyle (i.e. avoiding things that promote aggression) and therapeutic activities like gardening and wrestling.
